Who We Are

I.C.T. Davao Inc.

FASTER • FARTHER • TOGETHER

I.C.T. Davao, Inc. (IDI) is the industry council of the information technology and business process management (IT-BPM) associations, enterprises and stakeholders of Davao City and Region XI. Established in 2006, IDI represents an industry with more than 70,000 workers, embracing the following industry sectors: call center and business process outsourcing; information technology and software development; graphics, animation and game development; health information management; corporate IT; and, freelancers and home-based online workers. Davao City is consistently ranked by Tholons as among the top 100 outsourcing destinations in the world, and recognized by DOST-ICTO and IBPAP in 2016 as a Center of Excellence in IT-BPM operations.

How It Started

Organizational History

Achieving a workforce in excess of 70,000 is an impressive achievement. It helped make the Philippines' IT-BPM sector as one of the most resilient economic drivers of the country. IDI aims to help double this figure in the shortest possible timeframe. However, the importance of ICT extends beyond job creation; it also facilitates connectivity to the digital world, empowers individuals to participate in the knowledge economy, and allows them to discover meaning and purpose in a globally connected environment.

Davao City has secured a prominent position within this global landscape through its dedication to information and communications technology (ICT).

Local, National and International ICT Events

ICT Davao holds regular events to continually update its members, partners and industry stakeholders. We conduct membership meetings (Quarterly, Special and Annual). We also host webinars on the latest in  the industry and to prepare our members for the technology disruptions.

Our signature Livelihood Exchange (LivEx) is held every two years to provide a platform where our members and stakeholders are not only able to meet up close the leading and cutting edge technologies but also address the identified gaps in the industry and business sector, and propose technological solutions for adoption by our stakeholders.

In partnership with DCCCII, we also hold the Innovation Summit every two years (usually within Q4) to present and highlight the latest innovations that will impact the industry and economy. One of the highlights of the event is the IT-BPM Awards supported by the local government to recognize and honor companies and individuals that have contributed to the local economy.

As a member of the ICT CEO Forum, we also assist or participate in the international events within the BIMP-EAGA (Brunei-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East Asia Growth Area) Region.

Advocacy

More than being the voice of the industry, we advocate for the following programs/concerns:

  • Talent Development - as an ongoing concern, the absorptive capacity of the industry is heavily reliant on the availability of talent. We identify and address the skills gap and implement an industry-aligned talent development program, making sure that our people are ready for the work of the future.
  • Agri-Tech - with technology now playing a key role in helping the country achieve food security, we will help develop new programs and systems that will include our farmers being able to actively participate in and fully maximize the benefits of a digital marketplace.
  • MSME Capacity Building - as one of the preferred IT-BPM destinations, we want to make sure that we are able to share the best practices of our clients from all over the world to our local MSMEs. This will help in making their operations more efficient with the adoption of digitalization and ecommerce.
  • LGU Digitalization - we support the government’s initiatives to digitalize the local government units (LGUs) in line with the thrust to implement the ease of doing business up to the countryside.
  • ICT Council Development (Region XI) - as one of the pioneering and mature ICT Councils in the Philippines, we are expanding our service to the other cities and/or districts in Region XI by helping in the development and training of their own ICT Councils.
  • Impact Sourcing - we are the early adapters and leading advocates for impact sourcing. While we started impact sourcing as a program to reach the rural areas, we are now also focusing on Urban Impact Sourcing (UIS) where we aim to bring IT-BPM jobs right in the middle of our poor communities.
  • Job Fairs - we conduct both onsite and hybrid job fairs (as part of our yearly events) in partnership with our trade associations, DOLE and the LGU’s Public Employment Service Office (PESO)
  • Digital Trust - we are implementing a professional program that will transform our IT-BPM employees into global professionals.

Techtalks

For those looking to introduce their products/technology to the Davao Region, we organize/host meetups for technology briefings. We can set it up as an exclusive round table event (for targeted clients only) or a group presentation to our members, partners and stakeholders.

Our webinars and upcoming podcasts will also provide you with a good platform to reach our members and online audience.

Of course, we also have our regular events like the LivEx and Innovation Summit where you can showcase your new products, technologies and services. We will be happy to have you as a sponsor and one of the featured speakers.

Networks and Linkages

Over the years, we have built relationships with domestic and international companies, universities and government agencies, as well as with ICT Councils within the BIMP-EAGA Region. We have signed MOUs and MOAs for the mutual advancement of our technologies, development and economies.

We will continue to build more relationships and establish international networks and linkages to advance our advocacies of providing a better economy for the Davao Region.

Representation

As the voice of the ICT industry, we actively participate in the different councils and committees. We represent the industry to the following:

  • National ICT Confederation of the Philippines (nicp)
  • BIMP-EAGE ICT CEO Forum
  • MSMED
  • NEDA Regional Development Council (RDC XI) serving as Private Sector Representative (PSR) and member of the Infrastructure Development Committee.
  • Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (DCCCIi)
  • Davao City Invention and Innovation Council
  • DOLE Regional Tripartite Industry Peace Council
  • Metro Davao ICT Industry Board (MDIIB)
  • Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)
  • Mindanao Development Authority (MINDA)
  • Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT)
  • Department of Education (DepEd)

Enabling Startups

We help startups by linking them with potential project funders and venture capitalists. We provide guidance to startups in their planning and registration requirements to ensure that they are protected right from the start.

We envision a city with a local startup and innovation hub in the center and micro hubs in different locations/districts where technopreneurs can incubate, launch and scale. The innovation hub will provide marketing, legal and financial services to the startups so the founders can focus on refining, growing and launching their ideas.

MSME Services

With capacity building for SME as one of our advocacies, we seek to provide the following services to our qualified members:

  • Digital marketing - from affordable web sites to assistance in creating a social media marketing platform
  • Operations optimization - we will tap our members, trade associations and industry partners to help SMEs optimize/digitize their operations at a very minimal cost
  • Fund raising - a soon to be offered service, we will provide a crowdfunding platform where our SME members and startups will be able to raise funds for their pre-seed business incubation and prototyping.

Enterprise-based Training Programs

Technology keeps changing at breakneck speeds to the point that even the companies, employees, colleges and universities are not able to catch up. The constant update of technology is contributing to the widening of the gap between the available and required skills.

Through MDIIB and in partnership with Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), we implement an enterprise-based training program which upskills the employees and qualifies them to handle the latest technologies used by their potential employers.

Our micro credentialing program will also help ensure that IT-BPM employees who are most likely to be impacted by the wider and growing adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) are re-skilled and re-deployed.

Marketing and Promotion

Got a new idea? Running an event? Launching a new product/service? We will help you market and promote not only to our members but also to our wide network.

Business Referrals

The key component of our events and activities will be the business to business (B2B) networking and referral. In partnership with DCIPC and our trade associations, we can connect you with the right persons/companies to partner with for your new venture or requirements.

Our members also have the first dibs privilege on any project opportunity we encounter or for which we have been consulted. A classic example would be the SafeDavao QR Code program. When the Davao City LGU asked ICT Davao for help, we made sure that the requirement was quickly addressed and implemented by a member of one of the trade associations.
